Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, the film follows a group of wealthy Romans young people on the day on a volcanic island trip. During the voyage, one woman disappears, but the characters in the film appear to pay his disappearance shortly. The film was booed at Cannes, where he had his first it 50 years ago, but it also received an award by the jury.
