Announcement of New Jackson Album Is Kind of a Thriller

Hey, you: Do you like Michael Jackson? Have you spent the last eight months anxiously trolling the Internet for news of his posthumously assembled album of outtakes and unfinished tracks? Are you O.K. with long, tease-filled marketing campaigns? Yes?

Well, then this is a great day for you. After saying in March that such an album would be released this fall, the estate of Michael Jackson and Epic Records, a division of Sony, announced on Thursday that the album would be called “Michael,” and would come out on Dec. 14. And what’s on this album? Well, they’re not saying much for now.

According to a brief statement, “Michael” is to include “newly completed recordings” that Jackson had been working on “everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.” That’s it, but some more breadcrumbs might be tossed out over the next week. An “exclusive teaser” video for the album will go up on michaeljackson.com on Friday, and a new song, “Breaking News,” will stream on that site for a week beginning Monday. One thing we do know about the album: the cover is painted by Kadir Nelson, who is known for his children’s book “We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball.”

“Breaking News” is the only title identified so far, and here’s the full extent of the exclusive tease description: it was “recorded in New Jersey in 2007 and recently brought to completion.” Who’s the friend? And how was that completion completed? If you are wondering about those things, consider yourself teased.

New Beastie Boys Album is a lot like Unreleased Beastie Boys Album

The bad news for fans of Beastie Boys: it seems as if no there is no "Hot Sauce Committee part 1," the album that this hip-hop trio planned for release in 2009 - his first since "Scramble," all-instrumental record of 2007 and the first with lyrical content since "for the five boroughs" in 2004.

The good news: the group said Monday it now expected release an album entitled "Hot Sauce Committee part 2," in the spring of next year.

News we do not understand fully: the band said in a press release that "Hot Sauce Committee part 2″ will consist" 16 same track originally slated for inclusion "Party Committee Sauce Hot 1." ""

If you're intrigued by this last turn of events, thus, the band is too.

Adam Yauch, Beastie man known as its stage, MCA, said in a statement, "I know it is bizarre and confused, but at least we can say unequivocally that 'Hot Sauce Committee part 2' is out on time, which is more that I can say 'Part 1' and really is all that matters in the end."

M. Yauch said last summer that he had been given a diagnosis of cancer and the tape delayed the release of the album and tour plans so that he had a tumor removed his (saliva) gland left Parotid gland.
